Current Employee, more than 5 years
Pros
Great benefits, tuition reimbursement program is great too, positive work environment
Cons
Only con I can think of is I wish the professional development was more tailored to each position/department.
-
Current Employee, more than 1 year
Pros
Great pay, new facilities, and kind coworkers
Cons
The kids re very tough to handle, and the school has about 3,000 students
-
Former Employee, more than 10 years
Pros
TUHSD is trying to treat their teachers well. There are always hurdles to overcome, but they do make a good effort. Pay has improved over the last few years, and the School Board has worked hard to make that happen.
Cons
Hiring for non-teaching positions at the district level are not transparent.

Pros
Tolleson is a great district to work for when it comes to pay. They are the highest paying district in the west valley and they have a strong union!
Cons
You are going to be challenged by admin weekly and the support is going to waver. You are also going to deal with a lot of kid push-back (which is inevitable).
-
Pay is bad… obviously

Pros
Love working in education. You have to love kids. Work culture varies by school greatly… and especially if it is an older school or new. Benefits are pretty good! Their dental was amazing.
Cons
Administration is not proactive at all: they do not do anything until after the fact. Obviously pay is awful. I left for the corporate world because I had a bachelors degree and was making 12 dollars an hour and because of the ASRS, I was only making 400 dollars biweekly.

Business Outlook
Pros
Good pay and consistent raises
Cons
Toxic administration and HR has a track record of punishing lgbtq teachers for things they would not punish others for
-
Pros
I love talking to the kids and getting to know them. I love my co workers in my department.
Cons
I constantly feel like I'm drowning in responsibilities and tasks, and everything seems to be thrust upon us very last minute. Many of my coworkers feel overburdened as well. The behavior of students is pretty wild at times.
