Experience Downtown Pembroke this holiday season; Everything kicks off Nov. 23 and 24 with 5th annual Shop The Neighbourhood event
Downtown Pembroke customers have lots of chances to experience all the city's core has to offer this holiday season with several festive initiatives.
The Pembroke Business Improvement Area (PBIA) is kicking off the season Nov. 23 and 24 with its fifth annual Shop The Neighbourhood event. Shopping local never felt so good as participating businesses are offering exclusive deals over these two days. Look for black and yellow balloons outside participating businesses. The more you shop, the more chances you have to win $50 Downtown Dollars to spend at any downtown business as well.
To add to the festive spirit, there will be free horse-drawn wagon rides running through downtown from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24. All this leads into the City of Pembroke's Santa Claus Parade of Lights Nov. 24, which makes its way through downtown starting at 5:30 p.m.
While people visit downtown for Shop The Neighbourhood and the parade, they can also enjoy all the beautifully-decorated windows downtown. Returning this year is the Downtown Christmas Window Contest where the public can vote for the People's Choice winning window. Voting will occur on the Downtown Pembroke Facebook page from Nov. 24-Dec. 19.
Following Shop The Neighbourhood, the next incentive to shop local starts Monday, Nov. 26.
One of downtown's longest-running events, the Christmas Tree Draw, runs Nov. 26-Dec. 19.
This year's event has a few fun changes to it. Not only is the period extended, but shoppers have extra chances to win.
With every $10 of purchases, customers and clients will receive a stamp on their shopping passport. Once the passport is full at $100, their name goes into the draw for a chance to win the entire Christmas tree and gifts donated by downtown businesses. It is valued at more than $2,000!
If customers shop early this year, they will also have a chance to win the early-bird draw for $100 Downtown Dollars to spend at any downtown business.
If people are looking for evening shopping hours, they can find them during the Downtown Shop Hop: Christmas Edition Thursday, Dec. 13. Between 4 and 8 p.m., participating businesses will be offering Shop Hop exclusives, which could be sales, prizes, product launches and more! Participating restaurants will also be offering special promotions during the event. Look for balloons outside participating businesses. To add to this festive Shop Hop, keep an ear out for local carolers.
